Chapter 3 Finding Love That Won’t Fail Even When I Do

Chapter 3 Finding Love That Won’t Fail Even When I Do

Ladies, we are already in Week 3 and I love how God has brought us all together!! This week we are reading chapter 3 and answering the following discussion questions from the book. Also we have our first video clip this week!

I can’t wait to read what you all are getting from God this week! Remember to tell us what you are highlighting and what is speaking to you beyond the discussion questions.

1.     Think about your desire to find a relationship, job, a calling, or something else that would satisfy the longings of your heart, like Sam and Renee, have you ever looked to something or someone to fill or fulfill you? Describe how that might have shaped the pattern of your thoughts, decisions, and pursuits.

2.     Are your closet, your schedule, your mind, and your life full? How about your heart? Are there empty places that you need and want to trust God to fill? If so, list them.

3.     Where are you most tempted to find your worth? In what area is it hardest to let God define you – and not the world’s standards (i.e., career, motherhood, financial success, marriage, or ministry)

4.     What is the difference between salvation and satisfaction in Christ?

5.     Read Proverbs 19:22; Psalm 63:2; and Psalm 90:14. What do these verses tell you about God’s unfailing love? Have you ever wondered how God’s love could be enough?

Chapter 2: Because God's Love is Perfect, I Don't Have to Be

Chapter 2 Because God’s Love is Perfect, I Don’t Have To Be

Ladies, we are starting week 2 and chapter 2! I loved our posts from last week’s chapter. It was a nice way to get us all started this week’s chapter seems to really start to dig deeper  - Yay!! I’m also super excited about the next 2 weeks, I have found (through her awesome blog!) some teaching video from Renee Swope that go right along with this book. So look for a link to the first video in next week’s post!

For this week we will read and discuss chapter 2. Please post your responses to the discussion questions before Sunday night so we all have time to discuss and share how this chapter had touched us or ask each other for clarifying insights.

To help us continue to grow in our discussions I am going to include an “extra” discussion question not really found in the chapter questions J

1.     Tell us something that you highlighted in the chapter, or something that just spoke to you, and why you think it touched you.

2.     Has anything ever happened that caused you to distance yourself from God or other people? How does it make you feel to know Jesus understands, and He is still there with you in every moment of every day? When do you need His assurance and presence most?

3.     Reread Sam’s story in John 4, asking Jesus to meet you there and show you things in your heart that need His repair. Is there part of Sam’s story or Renee’s (the author) story that you relate to most?

4.     What lesson from this chapter will you walk away with and hold on to so that you can live in the security of God’s approval and acceptance?

Chapter 1 - Discovering the Shadow of My Doubts

Ladies welcome to our Bible study page! I have been praying for God to use this Bible Study to touch each and every one of us and I hope that we all learn and grow together as strong Christian women.

This week we will read and discuss Chapter 1  so your assignment is to read the chapter and highlight/underline anything that speaks to your heart. Then come back here and answer the discussion questions listed below.

Having a discussion online can be tricky so please feel free to ASK any other questions that come up, we don't have to stick to just the discussion questions posted in the chapter even though I will list a few of those for us each week as a guide.

Discussion Questions for Chapter 1

1. Has insecurity ever kept you from doing something?

2. What do you think hinders you most from living with God-confidence on a consistent basis? Is there a problem listed in the chapter (or other discussion questions) that speaks to your greatest need right now?

3. Read Jeremiah 17:7. What does this verse promise and encourage you to do? Think of one situation where you could live in the power of this promise and describe what that would look like this week.

**Also if there was anything in this chapter that just spoke to you please please share that with us as well!!

Let's Get to Know Each Other

Since all of you know me and I know all of you but only some of you know each other I thought it would be a good idea for us to just do a quick intro post!

Since we will begin our study VERY soon (April 15th - can't wait!!!!) please take a few minutes and introduce yourself. Tell us your name and anything else you want to. Maybe tell us why you decided to join this Bible study!

I'll start us off - My name is Cindy and I will be leading this Bible study. I started it because I want to have a deeper relationship with Jesus and I have felt drawn to the Word of God recently and feel that is God's way of pulling me closer to Him. As I started my own individual Bible study I found that I wanted to have people to discuss things with to get other perspectives so God laid it on my heart to do this online Bible Study. After I posted on Facebook about doing this and a couple friends said they wanted to do it, I started to get nervous and started to doubt that I could really do this. God obviously wants me to do this because that same day in my email inbox was a devotion written by Renee Swope, all about self doubt. At the end of the devotion was information about her book "A Confident Heart" and her own online Bible study. So I looked into that but there were like 8,000 people signed up (I am NOT exaggerating) and I thought I wanted to do something a little more intimate so I suggested this book to my friends and here we all are!

Ok your turn! Tell us about yourself, whatever you want!

Coming Soon!

Please join us on Monday April 15, 2013 for the beginning of our Bible study using A Confident Heart by Renee Swope!
